24/7SOUTHWESTRECOVERY

“I don't know where I am”
happens every day. Here's the fix.

The fastest recoveries start with an exact location. Four ways to give us yours — pick whichever your phone makes easiest.

Option 1

what3words — three words, three metres

The free what3words app has divided the world into 3-metre squares and given each one a three-word name — something like ///daring.lion.race. Open the app (or what3words.com in your browser), allow location, and read us the three words at the top of the screen. That's it — we're coming to that exact square. Every UK emergency service uses the same system.

Option 2

WhatsApp us a live pin

In WhatsApp: tap the + (or paper-clip), choose Location → Share live location, and send it to us. Our driver sees you move on the map — perfect if you're walking to somewhere safer. Photos of the vehicle and its surroundings help too.

Option 3

On a motorway? Read the marker posts

Every 100 metres along the hard shoulder there's a small post with a number like M5 A 187.4 — the road, the carriageway letter and the distance. Blue driver location signs every 500m carry the same details, bigger. Read us the whole thing and we know your road, your direction and your spot to within 100 metres.

Option 4

Nothing else? Describe the last thing you passed

The last junction or village, the pub you just went by, a landmark you can see — plus your direction of travel. Our operators know these roads; two details are usually enough to pin you down while the truck is already rolling.

While you wait — stay safe

  • On a motorway: get everyone out of the left-hand doors, behind the barrier, and up the bank if you can. Leave the vehicle where it is — it's not worth a wing mirror.
  • Hazards on, sidelights at night. If you carry a warning triangle, use it on ordinary roads (never on motorways).
  • Stay reachable. Keep your phone in your hand — the driver calls when close, and your tracking link shows exactly how far away help is.
